St. Rep. Tom Bennett of Gibson City will ask Republicans in the newly drawn 106th Illinois House district for the reelection nomination next year. The district covers southeastern LaSalle County. He’s been in the legislature since 2015.

Two of the big issues for him are education and agriculture. He says the legislature often approves new requirements for schools and leaves it up to the schools to pay the costs. He says farming is a huge Illinois industry and work is needed so people understand it.

Bennett has been a teacher and a farmer, as well as a computer systems technician. He says he develops relationships with people on each side of the aisle, because you have to if you want to get legislation passed.
