The city of Peru is levying for about $39,000 more than this year. Finance Director Justin Miller says the city is asking for $858,197 from property taxes.
Last year this city asked for $818,500.
Miller says the levy is 4.9% greater than the 2020 levy; however the rate increase is only 3.6% due to increased property values and new construction. He says the city only asks for more for the police and fire pensions, which is why it’s lower than other levies around the county.
