The city of Peru is receiving a $1 million donation from the Doug and Rorie Schweickert Charitable Trust. The money will be used to make improvements on Washington Park and Veterans Memorial Park.
City Clerk David Bartley says the improvement will be made at the baseball field at Veterans Park.

At Washington Park, there will be a 2,600 square foot building to provide restrooms, lockers, concessions, a skate rental area, and a fireplace. Mayor Ken Kolowski say it was a big night for the city, and the additions will be used for generations to come.
