The Ottawa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2470 held a ceremony for the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Tuesday. John Duback from American Legion Post #33 read a plaque that was dedicated for the 50th anniversary.
The ceremony included placing the American flag at half staff and a gun salute with Taps. Three people from Ottawa were killed in attack.
They were Bob Halterman, Herman Koeppe , and James McCarrens. The history of the three men from Ottawa who died while defending Pearl Harbor was told by Richard Foltynewicz in the past.
