New information in the Jelani Day case may come out soon. But the Peru Police Department says it’s not ready to say anything yet, and not in response to the call in Chicago Friday for the FBI to take over. Ben Crump, a civil rights lawyer Day’s family hired, wants it to be an FBI case. Day’s relatives and friends believe he was murdered because he was a good swimmer. The Illinois State University student’s body was found in the Illinois River in LaSalle County in early September.
