People gave 907 toys and 169 books to the Ottawa Salvation Army chapter over the weekend. The items were donated when the Ottawa Sunrise Rotary club had its toy float at the Festival of Lights Friday night and at Farm and Fleet Saturday. The Salvation Army will distribute the toys and books through its Christmas program for families in need. It is still taking donations in person at its office on W. Madison St.
