Marseilles is applying for the Rebuild Downtowns and Main Streets Capital Grant. The city is working with the North Central Illinois Council of Governments.
NCICG Executive Director Kevin Lindeman explained to the city council what the grant will do. He says that the grant can help bring amenities for businesses that were affected because of the pandemic.
Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says local businesses have been sending in letters of support which is helps the city get the grant. He says that the city has put $100,000 toward the grant.
Others cities in LaSalle County including Seneca and Troy Grove are applying for the grant as well.
