Authorities investigating Jelani Day’s death are trying to find out if his cell phone contains any clues. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to WLS channel 7 in Chicago that investigators have obtained the cell phone and are having it forensically examined.
Day was 25 years old. His body was found in the Illinois River near LaSalle in early September. The Coroner’s Office says Day drowned, but it’s not known how or why he got into the water. His family and friends believe he was murdered.
