About 25 people who work at Verilife in Ottawa will vote soon on whether to form a union. The employees’ spokesperson Caitlin Pedersen says they feel like they’re at the bottom of the company’s priority list. They want to negotiate their compensation and share in the wealth they’re helping the company and investors build in cannabis retailing.

Pedersen says two unions were under consideration and the Teamsters have made a good case. The employees filed to join the Teamsters and will have a vote this month to decide if they do. The union’s local 777 announced last week that Verilife employees at locations in Chicago and Arlington Heights voted in favor of unionization.
