The city of Marseilles is purchasing a new police vehicle. Police Chief Brian Faber says it’s a 2021 Ford Explorer that will be equipped with all the same equipment as a squad car.

But Faber says it’s being used for more administrative purposes. He also says many people in the department, including himself, will use it.

Commissioner Gary Lewey says the city is paying $24,000 for the new police car.

He says it could have cost between $35,000-$40,000, but the city sold a Hummer that was used by the police department and put the money toward the new one.
