Starting Friday at 4:30 members of the American Legion Post 33 in Ottawa will start the Honor Guard Vigil in Washington Square Park.
Event Chairman John Duback says this is the twelfth year the event is happening in front of the Memorial Plaza.
Duback says that members of the legion and other veterans’ organizations will take 15 minute honor guard shifts.
He also says there are some new events this year like the avenue of flags.
He says each flag will honor a specific veteran.
He says there will be tents set up like a command post that will have snacks and coffee for those who are helping.
