In round one of postseason high school football, Marquette defeated Princeville 32-7 at Gould Stadium on a very rainy Friday night.
The Crusaders advance to round two and will host Fulton on Saturday afternoon. You can hear that game on the home of Marquette football, 93.5 and 1430 WCMY.

In Class 1A, St Bede were winners over Hope Academy 30-19
In Class 3A, Princeton defeated North Boone 47-14 and Mendota lost at DuPec Co-op 44-0.
In Class 4A, Plano lost at Kewanee 17-14.
In Class 5A, Morris defeated LP 42-0, Kaneland lost at Fenwick 50-14, Rochelle defeated Payton 36-3, Sterling lost at home to St. Patrick 44-14 and Sycamore won at Evergreen Park 48-21.

At the Class 2A Metamora Sectional
In the girls race, The Lady Pirates Grace Carroll placed 34th earning an individual trip to the State finals. The Ottawa team placed 12th.
In the boys race, Streator’s Kody Danko finished 11th out of 137 runners and will advance to the State Finals. Also advancing L-P’s Ryan Hartman who placed 14th. The Cavalier team also finished in 14th-place.
At the Class 1A Oregon Sectional
The Seneca girls team finished in 2nd place and qualified for the State Championship meet. Evelyn O’Connor finished 2nd overall for the Lady Irish.
For the boys, Seneca’s Austin Aldridge finished 19th and will advance as an individual for the State Finals.
Junior High Girls basketball
The Shepherd 8th Graders took 3rd place in the Starved Rock Conference Tournament by defeating host Bureau Valley 32-16. Leading the way for the Lady Rams was Belle Markey with 13 points.
Elsewhere in Sports
The Astros are forcing a Game Six of the World Series. Houston defeated the Braves 9-5 in Game Five in Atlanta. Martin Maldonado drove in three runs for the Astros. Adam Duvall hit a grand slam for the Braves, who have a 3-2 series lead. Game Six in Houston on Tuesday.
The Chicago Bears’ losing streak is now at three following a 33-22 defeat to the 49ers at Soldier Field. The Bears defense failed to force a punt or a turnover in the loss. The Bears dropped to 3-and-5 and will travel to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football a week from today.
Last night on Sunday Night Football, Cowboys back-up quarterback Cooper Rush threw a go-ahead touchdown pass as Dallas defeated Vikings 20-16 in Minnesota.
In college football, Illinois fell 20-14 to Rutgers at Memorial Stadium. The Illini dropped to 3-and-6 and will visit Minnesota on Saturday.
In other college football action, Notre Dame defeated UNC 44-34, Northwestern fell to Minnesota 41-14, Eastern Illinois lost at Southeast Missouri 38-15, Western Illinois topped Illinois State 38-31, and Southern Illinois fell to Northern Iowa 23-16.
The Chicago Bulls visit the Celtics tonight. The Bulls are 5-and-1 after beating the Utah Jazz on Saturday 107-99.
The Blackhawks will still be seeking their first win of the season when they host the Ottawa Senators tonight. The Hawks dropped to 0-7-and-2, setting a franchise record for the worst start to a season.
