Last night was game two of the World Series, The Astros defeated the Braves 7-2 at Houston to even the series at one a piece. The Astros scored four in the second inning to race out to an early lead. Jose Altuve homered in the seventh for Houston. Jose Urquidy allowed just two runs over five innings to get the win for the Astros. Max Fried allowed six runs to take the loss for Atlanta. The Braves will host Game Three on Friday.
The Blackhawks raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but fell 3-2 to the Maple Leafs in overtime at the United Center. Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat netted goals for the Hawks and Kevin Lankinen made a season-high 37 saves. The Blackhawks remain winless at 0-5-and-2 and will visit the Hurricanes tomorrow night.
Big game tonight on Thursday Night Football with The undefeated 7-and-0 Cardinals will square off against the 6-and-1 Green Bay Packers in Arizona.
The Chicago Bears are considering shutting down linebacker Khalil Mack for a few weeks in order to get healthy. The six-time Pro Bowler has been hampered by a foot injury that he suffered in a week four win over the Lions. Head coach Matt Nagy says Mack is working with team trainers and doctors, but no decision has been made yet.
The undefeated Chicago Bulls host the New York Knicks tonight. The Bulls improved to 4-and-0 after beating the Raptors 111-108 on Monday.
The Chicago Fire fell 1-0 to New York City at Yankee Stadium in the MLS. The Fire will play its final match of the season November 7th when they visit the Columbus Crew.
Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn was named the Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year By the sports broadcasting media. The junior center is the first Illini player to be voted Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year since Dee Brown in 2005 prior to his senior season. In addition, Cockburn and sophomore point guard Andre Curbelo have both been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. This is the second year in a row that Illinois has two players on the Preseason All-Big Ten Team, following Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu last season.

At the Class 1A Indian Creek Regional. Newark defeated Somonak and Earlville were winners over their host Indian Creek.
At the Class 1A Henry- Senachwine Rgional, Woodland Pulled an upset over Yorkville Christian and St. Bede defeated Putnam County.
Junior high girls basketball
Marquette Academy hosted Holy Family and were winners at both grade levels.
The 8th grade team won 34-14. Hunter Hopkins led the way for the Lady Knights with 8 points.
The 7th graders won big 45-7. Top scorer for the Academy was Anna Hjerpe with 12 points.
