Marchers with Rainbow PUSH will leave Chicago on a bus at 8am Tuesday for their event in Peru at noon. Peru Police Chief Robert Pyszka says the plan is for a march or a caravan ride from the new police station on Peoria St. to the Illinois River at Water and Putnam streets. A prayer service will be held there.

It was a month-and-a-half ago that searchers found 25-year old Jelani Day’s body in the river. The Illinois State University student had been missing for more than two weeks. Police are still investigating what happened to him.

Pyszka says the plan he discussed with a Rainbow Coalition representative Sunday is the begin at the police station, go south on Peoria St., turn east onto U.S.6 or Fourth St., and then go south on Putnam St. to Water St. Another announcement will be made if the route changes.
