LaSalle will keep their noise ordinance the same for now

After some discussion between residents, bar owners, and the LaSalle County City Council, the city’s noise ordinance will stay the same for now.

Alderman Jim Bacidore says it would have been better to raise the decibel level from 70db to 85.

But Alderman Jim “Diz” Demes says it would be easier to let bars only play loud music outside until 9pm instead of 10.

Demes says it’s been affecting where he lives.

But because a bar called Nicks on Six is across from where he lives Manager Nick Hammer (HAM-mer) claims because Demes is an alderman, he wants to cut back the amount of time back for his own personal reasons.

Some LaSalle residents disagreed with what the bar owners wanted which was to extend the time that bars can play music from 10pm to 11.

In a 6-2 vote the city council decided to keep the ordinance as is.
