The Ottawa High School tennis courts are being named in honor of tennis coaches Tom Henderson and Lyle Guenther. Their time at OHS started in the 1950’s. School board president Don Harris says the school’s tennis program became very well known under them and it still is.
Guenther coached tennis at OHS from 1959 to 1993.
Henderson coached from 1954 to 2000. He was inducted into the IHSA Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame in 1987 and was awarded the IHSA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. He died in January at age 90.

A sign at the entrance to the Ottawa High School tennis courts tells the program’s history.
