The White Sox will try to avoid elimination once again when they face the Astros today in game four of the ALDS at Guaranteed Rate Field. Game four was originally scheduled to be played yesterday, but it was postponed due to rain. The South-Siders trail 2-to-1 in the series. The Sox will stick with scheduled starter Carlos Rodón this afternoon, while the Astros will bring back game one starter Lance McCullers Jr. on normal rest.

The Red Sox are heading to the ALCS with a victory in Boston. The Sox finished off the Rays 6-5 to eliminate Tampa Bay in four games in the ALDS. Kike [KEE-kay] Hernandez drove home the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth. Boston will face the winner of the series between the Astros and White Sox.
The Atlanta Braves are just one win away from going back to the NLCS. Ian Anderson pitched five scoreless innings as the Braves blanked the Brewers 3-0 in Game Three of the NLDS in Cumberland. Joc Pederson homered for the Braves, who now have a 2-1 series lead. The series continues with game 4 tonight.
The Giants are one win away from advancing to the NLCS. San Francisco shutout the Dodgers 1-0 in a pivotal Game Three in Los Angeles. Alex Wood went four-and-two-thirds scoreless innings before handing things off to the Giants bullpen, which combined to allow only three hits. The Giants take a 2-1 series lead and will look to knock off the defending champs in game 4 later tonight.
The Ravens overcame a 22-3 second-half deficit to take down the Colts in a 31-25 overtime win in Baltimore on Monday Night Football. The Colts kicker Rodrigo Blankenship missed a field goal as time expired in regulation that sent the game to overtime.

Jon Gruden is resigning as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Gruden informed his staff of his intention to resign as past emails surfaced that featured homophobic and misogynistic comments. This follows a report from an email from 2011 where Gruden made a racist comment about NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith. Raiders owner Mark Davis reportedly met with Gruden and was informed of the decision. Rich Bisaccia will serve as interim coach effective immediately.
The 2021 NHL regular season will get started tonight. The two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Lightning will host the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the second game, the NHL’s 32nd franchise will make its regular season debut as the Seattle Kraken visit the Vegas Golden Knights. It’s a meeting of the NHL’s two newest teams in Las Vegas.

Seneca Cross Country raced at the 48th Annual Columbus Day Invite hosted by Amboy The lady Irish finished 7th as a team with Evelyn O’Connor placing 19th and Ashley Alsvig finished 22nd. The boys team finished 10th with Austin Aldridge placing 17th for the Irish.
