A Grand Ridge man is dead after a four car accident on Interstate 80 in Grundy County Friday evening.
Coroner John Callahan says 18-year old Carsen R. Smith died after one car traveling westbound tried to pass another car and they hit each other which sent them across the median.
Both cars hit Smith’s and other person’s car going eastbound.
Smith’s car landed on its side and the damage caused him to be pinned inside.
It then caught fire.
Smith had a passenger that was ejected from the car in the crash.
Callahan says the investigation is still ongoing.
