Boats from the Oglesby and Utica fire departments were called in but weren’t needed after all in Mendota early this morning. A woman walked out into the middle of Lake Kakusha. Mendota Assistant Fire Chief Brian Fisher says she was sitting 100 to 150 feet from the shore in water two-and-a-half feet deep. A pastor and a social services worker helped persuade her to walk out. She was treated and released from a hospital where she was checked for low body temperature.
