High School results over the weekend.
The Ottawa cross country team competed at The Geneseo Invitational. Top performers for the Pirates: in the girls race, Grace Carroll took 1st place, Kendra Martin placed 4th and Lainey Billings finished 5th. For the boys, Liam Tipple finished 9th, Cole Smelko was 12th and Aaron Noble placed 15th.
Also in cross country, the Seneca team raced at the Dale Donner Invitational in Walnut.. In the girls race, the team placed 3rd with Evelyn O’Connor winning the event and Ashley Alsvig finishing 4th. In the boys event, the team placed 6th with Austin Aldridge placing 5th.
The Streator Varsity volleyball team competed at Bradley Bourbonnais in the Boilermaker Challenge. Top performers for the Lady Bulldogs, Hannah Rambo with 10 kills, 6 aces, 15 digs and 3 blocks and Mallory Goerne had 6 kills, 1 ace, 10 digs, 2 blocks
The Ottawa boys soccer team defeated DePue-Hall, Sandwich and Clifton Central to claim their own Pirate Invitational championship on Saturday at King Field. Gio Resendez led the Pirates with a total of seven goals and an assist in their three matches. The Ottawa defense did not allow a single goal in any of the three contests for the Pirates 1st place finish.
The Streator Girls tennis team took 1st place by defeating Coal City, Morris and Lisle at the Non-Conference Doubles Tournament hosted by Coal City. For the Lady Bulldogs, Mina James and Madelyn Wahl, partners Marissa Vickers and Franchesca Rodriguez went 3-0 on the day. Teams that went 2-1 were Claire Vogel and Lucy Zavada, the duo of Ebony Pickens and Brianna Janke, and partners Hope Porter and Danielle Sterner. The Ottawa boys varsity team took 2nd place at the ACC Golf Invitational with a team score of 310. Jonathan and Seth Cooper each finished with 76 to lead the Pirates.
