Marseilles has two major improvement projects happening.
Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says that they are both going well.
The city had a groundbreaking Thursday, September 9th for the Interstate 80 water and sewer extension in the Walbridge subdivision.
The city hasn’t started on 11th and Rutland Street yet because Hollenbeck says some gas lines have to be moved.
Hollenbeck says he hopes the project can be done in a year.
The other project the city is doing is working on installing a boat launch so boaters don’t have to go to Illini State Park to launch boats.
Hollenbeck says that two 44ft slabs were made and then placed into the Illinois River.
Hollenbeck says he hopes that boaters will want to go to the city for food and drinks.
The final project will have a parking lot for both regular cars and cars that bring boats.
