Three students and a bus driver were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa yesterday morning after the bus tipped over. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department says the bus taking Deer Park students to school was going south on E. 1251st Rd.
Fifty-one year old driver Mary E. Hatch of Varna said she tried to avoid an animal in the road, but she lost control when the bus went onto some gravel. The bus went off the road into a ditch and fell onto its side.
Deer Park School officials say no one on the bus had serious injuries. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
