Marseilles Finance Commissioner Bobby Kaminski says initial census numbers from the Illinois Municipal League show that the city of Marseilles has lost some population.
He says according to initial census data the city is down to 4,685 people.
Kaminski says if the numbers are officially approved the city could lose federal funding.
But he also says he wonders if lower census numbers is a pattern.
Kaminski says he would like to see other census data from cities like Ottawa, Seneca and Morris.
He says that COVID-19 might have played a factor for people not filling out their census forms.
