300 workers from Ameren Illinois and Missouri are heading to Louisiana help with restorations efforts after Hurricane Ida.

Ameren Illinois Spokesman Brian Bretsch says it should take about two weeks but it could be longer because of how big the job could be.

Bretsch says about 900,000 customers in Louisiana are still without power because of 150 mph winds from the hurricane.

He says restoring power after a major storm is complex task but it must be completed as quickly as possible.

Bretsch also says electric companies affected by massive outages will call other utility groups for assistance.
