The Lasalle County Veterans Assistance Commission Superintendent Steven Kreitzer says more therapies will be available for veterans because of their new office.

The Lasalle County VAC held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday at their new office on Progress Blvd in Peru

Kreitzer says he’s wanted to bring in veteran centers to Lasalle County since 2017.

He says the centers cover parts of Lasalle County but they never was able to access all of it.

Peru Mayor Ken Kolowski says it was VAC member Lisa Olson who came to a city council meeting to present what the VAC will do.

He says he was excited to here that the commission was coming to the heart of Peru.

Kreitzer says that peer groups will help people with PTSD and military sexual trama.

The new office is open from 8am to 4:30 Monday through Friday.
