A parent at the Ottawa Elementary School Board meeting Tuesday discussed reasons why kids shouldn’t be forced to wear masks in school.
The parent claimed that the local school district can overrule what the Illinois State Board of Education says.
Supt. Cleve Threadgill says that’s not the case.
Threadgill says that according to his findings, 29 districts have lost their accreditation.
Threadgill also says according to the school’s insurance agency the school can be held accountable for the safety of kids.
Governor Pritzker put in a mask requirement for K through 12 schools at the beginning of the month.
