Dallas Keuchel gave up a costly two-run home run in the sixth as the White Sox fell 4-3 to the Twins in Minnesota.  Keuchel surrendered four-runs over six innings and dropped to 7-and-6. The Sox wrap up the road series with the Twins this afternoon. The game will not air today on WCMY. Next broadcast will be tomorrow against the Yankees at the Field of Dreams in Iowa. 

 

The Cubs were swept by the Brewers in a doubleheader at Wrigley Field.  Milwaukee hit three homers in a 4-2 victory in game one.  Justin Steele gave up three-runs in five-innings in his first MLB debut start for Chicago.  The Brewers doubled up the Cubs 6-3 in the nightcap.  Patrick Wisdom homered and hit an RBI double for the North-Siders which has dropped six straight.  

 

J.A. Happ tossed six-innings of one-hit, one-run ball as the Cardinals defeated the Pirates 4-1 in Pittsburgh.  Tommy Edman and Paul DeJong homered for St. Louis, which has won three of four.  Alex Reyes recorded his 26th save.

 

Cardinals ace Jack Flaherty is set to return to the rotation on Friday. Flaherty’s return marks the start of a three-game set against the Royals in Kansas City. 

 

The Bulls held on to beat the Spurs 92-89 in summer league action in Las Vegas. The Bulls face the Timberwolves tomorrow.

 

The Blackhawks are saddened over the passing of legendary former player Tony Esposito.  The team announced yesterday that the Hall of Fame goalie died at the age of 78 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.  Esposito played all but one of his 16 NHL seasons with the Hawks and remains the all-time franchise leader in shutouts and career wins.

 

The Blackhawks have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with the forward Mike Hardman.  Hardman played in eight games with the Hawks’ last season.

 

Valparaiso University announced Tuesday that the school’s team name will be the Beacons.  The university dropped its old nickname of “Crusaders” earlier this year because the term had been associated with hate groups.  The school also said that Valparaiso will go by the “Beacons” immediately

 

Manny Pacquiao is having to alter his preparation for his August 21st title fight.  The boxing legend was originally slated to fight Errol Spence Jr., but Spence suffered an eye injury and announced he is pulling out of the bout.  Taking his place is Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas as the two will fight for the welterweight title in Las Vegas.  This could be the final fight for Pacquiao as hi is preparing for a Presidential run in the Philippines next May.
