A lawsuit over a deadly traffic crash involving a squad pickup north of Mendota is being settled for $5.5 million. Three children of 59-year old Martin Quest of Sublette will split about $3.4 million. Attorneys will get about $1.9 million. Creditors, including the emergency services that sent ambulances to the crash scene, will get the rest. Quest died on January 9, 2017 from injuries he suffered two weeks before in the crash at N. 46th Rd. and E. 1st Rd.

A LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department pickup and Quest’s pickup crashed. The Quest family’s filings say there was no emergency and the sheriff’s department truck didn’t have emergency lights or sirens on to warn Quest that it was coming. That’s opposite of what the Sheriff’s Dept. said about the crash in the days after it happened.
