Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin says If passed, money from the Build America Act of 2021 would allow many infrastructure projects to happen.
Durbin says in Illinois that $89 million dollars alone would go toward improving public transportation around Chicago.
Durbin also says that money wouldn’t just go toward projects above ground.
He says there would be a $55 billion dollar investment into eliminating lead service lines and pipes.
He says there is no safe amount of lead that can be found in water pipes.
Around Lasalle County Durbin says that although he can’t promise it, he’ll try to do his part to fix the bridge area over River Road.
He said to prove the need for an infrastructure bill; he brought a picture of the red truck over the chasm to the senate floor.
