Ameren Illinois has negotiated a tariff agreement with the Illinois Commerce Commission to expand access to electric car charging stations across its grid.
The agreement will expand installations of EV charging stations and create incentives to charge vehicles when increased electrical use won’t affect the grid.
Ameren Illinois Spokesman Mike Abba says it’s beneficial for all customers.
Abba also says that this can also influence customers to switch from gas power to electric.
Customers with electric vehicles can begin to apply for the incentives in the fall.
