 The White Sox bullpen failed to hold a late lead in a 6-3 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.  Garrett Crochet was tagged with the defeat.  Yasmani Grandal belted a three-run home run for The South-Siders. The two game series wraps up this afternoon in Pittsburgh.

The game will not air today on WCMY. Next Sox broadcast will be Friday at home against the Mariners starting at 6:30pm.

 

Sox outfielder Adam Engel is on the ten-day injured list after suffering a strained right hamstring.  This is the second time that Engel has been sidelined with this issue,

 

Kyle Hendricks posted his 10th win of the season after firing six scoreless innings in the Cubs 7-1 victory over the Indians at Wrigley Field.  Kris Bryant, Willson Contreras, and Patrick Wisdom all homered and Joc Pederson plated two runs for the North-Siders who split the two game set.  The Cubs head out West to open a four-game series against the Dodgers tomorrow night.

 

Johan Oviedo struggled as the Cardinals fell 8-2 to the Tigers in Detroit.  Oviedo gave up six-runs over three and two thirds.  Lars Nootbaar and Paul Goldschmidt each drove in runs for The Cards. 

 

The Bulls won’t have a first-round pick in this year’s NBA Draft.  Chicago drew the number-eight pick during last night’s draft lottery.  That means the Bulls owe the selection to the Orlando Magic as part of the midseason deal that got them center Nikola Vucevic.  The Detroit Pistons won the draft lottery and landed the number-one pick.  The 2021 NBA Draft is July 29th.

 

 

Deandre Ayton slammed an alley-oop with less than a second remaining as the Suns stunned the Clippers 104-103 in Game Two of the Western Conference Finals in Phoenix.  The Suns lead series 2-0.   Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks visit the Milwaukee Bucks for Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals.

 

The Chicago Sky defeated the New York Liberty 92-72.. The Sky has won six straight, its longest win streak since 2013.  

 

In the MLS, The Chicago Fire are back at Soldier Field tonight for the start of a four-game homestand tonight against Cincinnati.  The Fire dropped six of its last seven matches. 

 

Philadelphia manager Joe Girardi asked for umpires to check Washington starting pitcher Max Scherzer for foreign substances in the fourth inning of the Phillies-Nationals game last night. 

Nothing was found by the officials, despite the overt display put on by the Nationals’ right-hander.  

Shortly after, Scherzer struck out the batter to end the fifth inning and then stared down Girardi as he was walking off the mound.  

Girardi then walked out of the dugout and Scherzer held up his glove and hat to taunt him.  Girardi got ejected right after he left the dugout.
