The city of Marseilles is condemning an empty lot on Commercial Street.

Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the city needs the land for the Commercial Street realignment.

Hollenbeck says the owner won’t sell.

He says the city offered to buy the whole lot from the owner but he won’t cooperate with the deal.

There’s 400,000 dollars being withheld by the state until the city can get its ducks in a row.

The city approved a condemnation resolution which means it can now go to court.
