Results from the IHSA state tournaments yesterday:
Senior Lucas Hoffman finished his outstanding career at Marquette by finishing 23rd in the 800 and 28th in the 1600 meters in the Class 1A track and field meet at Eastern Illinois University.
At the Class 1A baseball finals at Illinois State University
Farina from South Central won the state title by defeating Father McGivney of Glen Carbon 4-2.
The Newark Norseman finished their season winning third place in the Class 1A over Mt. Pulaski 6-2.
Springfield High School outscored Prairie Ridge of Crystal Lake 8-7 in the Class 3A Baseball Championship at The Wintrust Field in Schaumburg.
Highland won the Class 3A Softball Championship by defeating Lemont High School 1-0 at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria.
The Tri-County Conference announced their all-conference baseball team yesterday.
Marquette Crusader Luke Couch was awarded Player of the Year.
Couch, Nick Melvin and Beau Ewers from Marquette and Seneca’s Braydon Roe Gage Cryder and Matt Cruise were named to the All-Conference first team.
Making the All-Conference second team were Aiden Thompson Taylor Waldron and Logan Nelson from Marquette and Seneca’s Cole Underhill.
The Crusader’s Shane Reynolds and the Fighting Irish’s Hayden Klicker received Honorable Mentions.
