Today the Ottawa Lady Pirates Travel to Lemont High School for the Class 3A Sectional Championship in Softball. First pitch is at 4:30pm.
The Marquette Lady Crusaders will also be competing for a Class 1A Sectional Championship against the hosting Newark Lady Norsemen.
The Marquette Crusaders defeated Chicago Christian of Palos Heights 13-3 in the opening round of the class 2A sectional in baseball at Masinelli Field. Marquette now heads to Coal City to face the Coalers for the Sectional Championship on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
The Streator Bulldogs season came to an end with a loss on the road to Morton 6-2 in the Class 3A sectional semifinal.
Also in baseball Newark won at home over Winnetka North Shore 12-2 in the Class 1A sectional semifinal. The Norsemen will host the class 1A sectional championship against Grant Park who defeated St Bede 10-4.
In high school wrestling
The St Bede Bruins lost to ORION 38-12 and MORRISON 42-18 in a triangular contest.
Seneca defeated MacArthur 75-3 and the hosting team Normal University 74-6 in a three team matchup. The Irish finished the season with a record of 33-2.
The Seneca boys track and field team hosted and won, scoring 106 points in their Class 1A sectional. Marquette scored twenty eight points and placed seventh with Newark finishing 10th and Somonauk 14th . State Qualifiers for the Irish from the meet were:
Carson Collet in theTriple Jump and Pole Vault, Given Siegel for the 10 meters Hurdles, Nathan Grant in the High Jump, Carter Thomas in the DIscus and all four relay teams.
The Crusaders Lucas Hoffman placed first place in the 800 and second in the 1600 meters.
