Congressman Adam Kinzinger says that there has been an act introduced in the House of Representatives that could help keep power plants in Illinois open.
The Preserving Existing Nuclear Generations Act would establish an emissions avoidance program for certain nuclear reactors.
Kinzinger says the bill would also help communities around the power plants.
He also says he will try to do everything at the federal level that he can to protect the plants from closing.
He does say that he’s not able to follow exactly what has been going on in Springfield but knows that what does happen will matter for the communities.
