The newly restored windows at Reddick Mansion are giving the employees and volunteers some insight into why William and Eliza Reddick did things the way they did. Reddick Mansion Association President Lorraine McCallister says it’s getting warm inside, especially upstairs.
The association decided last month to install air conditioning. The $135,000 job won’t be done until most of the summer’s heat is behind though. It’ll take eight to 12 weeks to get the air conditioners.
McCallister says air conditioning isn’t just for the guests’ comfort. She says heat and humidity are bad for the antiques. For example, a temperamental clock from 1870 that she nicknamed Oscar the Grouch stops in summer weather.
