The owner of the MarkAllen’s American Kitchen restaurant blames the JULIE utility locating service for a mistake that led to a gas main break yesterday. The main at 10th and Peoria streets in Peru broke when a contractor the restaurant hired hit it. Police diverted traffic and Ameren turned off gas to area homes and businesses during repairs. Traffic was back to normal yesterday afternoon, but the gas wasn’t on in time for MarkAllen’s to open.
