Donald F. Schanks, 83, of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday November 3 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Michael Scheib officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery in Marseilles.
Don was born on January 20, 1943, in Marseilles, to William “Hank” and Thelma (Peters) Schanks. He married LoLynn Smith of Wedron who preceded him in death in 2003.
He was employed be Marseilles Marine and Fleet, Operators Local 150, Boren Blasting, and Ludwig Explosives as a driller and baster until his retirement. He was a member of the Marseilles Lion’s Club and an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Don is survived by his daughter, Donna Schanks; A Grandson, Jared Schanks; one sister, Shirley Partridge; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LoLynn; one daughter Tammy Schanks; his significant other, Rita O’Neal; a sister, Hilda Hicks; a brother, William Carlson; and a brother-in-law, Danny Partridge.
Memorials may be directed to Pet Project.
Pallbearers will be Jared Schanks, Shane Kofoid, Jeremy Partridge, Chris Moore, Jerry Hicks, and Ray Green.
