Willis Leonard Shane, 78, of Neponset, formerly of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, at home. Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Pastor Terry Lancaster from Sheffield United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be private and at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Shane was born on July 4, 1948 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Charles Weaver and Marjorie Jean (Leonard) Shane. He graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1969. He married Lana Holtorf on June 6, 1970 in Malmo, Nebraska. Bill enjoyed wood carving, traveling with his wife, and especially loved circus themed events and circus music. He loved spending time with his family and his grandkids. Mr. Shane is survived by his wife Lana of Sheffield; three children Susan (Dusty) Winslow of St. Augustine, FL, Kelly (Wayne) Acuff of Prosper, Texas, and Will (Heather) Shane of Neponset. Also surviving are grandchildren; Holden, Hunter, Havannah, Wayne, Brandon, Max, Brock and Tucker. He preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn.
