Decan J. Dejewski, 20, of Ottawa, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at his home in Ottawa.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Rev. Dean Tieman, officiating. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Highland Memorial Cemetery in New Berlin, WI. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Decan was born on July 28, 2006 in Chicago to Michael Dejewski and Andrea Medrow.
Decan had a way of reminding us not to take life, or ourself, too seriously. He loved a good bumpy car ride, seemed to find great amusement in being yelled at, and somehow always managed to chuckle at the most inconvenient moments, especially when someone was cleaning up the rug or changing him. We may never know exactly what he heard, understood, or thought, but we knew that laugh. Caring for Decan taught us patience, brought us closer together, and showed us that joy can exist in the middle of complete chaos. He was one of a kind, deeply loved, and somehow always found a way to have the last laugh.
He is survived by his parents, Michael (Dawn) Dejewski and Andrea Medrow Reynolds (Tim Reynolds); three brothers, Zachary Dejewski, Grant Dejewski, Charles Medrow; grandmother Sharon Sorenson; grandfather Gary Dejewski; great-grandmother Beverly Dejewski; and his care giver Teresa McCullough.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, John and Florence Frahm; great-grandfather, Kenneth Dejewski; grandparents Nyle and Ruth Medrow; grandmother Sharon Dejewski; grandfather James Sorenson; and aunt Danielle Medrow.
