The Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children program honored three physicians for their contributions to pediatric care.
The Ron W. Lee Excellence in Pediatrics Awards are given annually to recognize those dedicated to the field.
One pediatrician Dr. Girish Deshpande from Childrens Hospital of Illinois OSF at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria got one of the lifetime achievement award.
Two other doctors from Chicago got the clinical and other lifetime achievement award.
The Ron W. Lee award is given out in May every year.
