The Ottawa Elementary School Board discussed at Tuesday’s meeting what they are going to do with some funding they got to improve the school buildings.

The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Grant or ESSER is a fund that was given to several local education agencies to help them during the pandemic.

The ESSER II fund is money that the Ottawa Elementary School District can use to improve the air quality in schools like McKinley Elementary.

Superintendent Cleve Threadgill says he wants to make sure the money from the funds are used for the best purposes.

He says the district will probably never see this type of funding, which is around five million dollars, ever again.

The school board is going to have another meeting to discuss specific ideas on how to use the money from the fund.
