Henry “Hank” Lee Lieske, 79, of Ottawa, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at his home.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa with Msgr. Mark Merdian, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

 

Hank was born on September 23, 1946 in Ottawa to Henry and Lorraine “Toots” (Modesitt) Lieske. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School class of 1965 and was a well-known wrestler with many awards. Hank worked as an electrician and car salesman for 50 years. He married Mary Katherine Schmale on November 3, 1973. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Columba Church, Knights of Columbus, Illinois Valley Idlers, and was a Eucharistic Minister. Hank enjoyed fishing, family vacations at Pine Terrace Resort, he loved vintage airplanes, photography, art, genealogy, site seeing, and caring for his wife Mary. He lived for car rides and scenic views – One of his favorites being Glacier Park.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lieske of Ottawa; a son, Lee Lieske; four grandchildren, Rilee, Lindsey, Peter, Emily; a great-granddaughter, Isabella; and another great-grandchild on the way due on September 10th.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lorraine “Toots” Lieske; grandparents, Lee and Leona (Bayer) Modesitt; and a step-daughter, Elizabeth (Vasti) Klingel
