Illinois Department of Human Services Acting Inspector General Peter Neumer says he never reached out to anyone in the governor’s office while investigating the COVID-19 outbreak at the LaSalle veterans home. He says he focused on speaking to the home’s employees to get to the bottom of things. Neumer answered questions today from Sen. Sue Rezin and others when the Illinois Senate Veterans Affairs Committee held a hearing.
Rezin says she’s shocked Neumer never tried to talk to Deputy Governor Sol Flores. Flores was responsible for coordinating the COVID-19 response among several agencies.
