Kevin Charles Moss of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was realistic about his odds of recovery while continuing his struggle towards wellness. He was an inspiration to his family, his friends, and co-workers. Kevin was born on March 6, 1963 in Ottawa, Illinois to Charles A. (Chuck) and Diane (Johnston) Moss. He graduated from Ottawa Marquette High School in 1981 and attended Southern Illinois University.

Kevin met his future wife and also found his calling at Floor to Ceiling store in Ottawa, where they were both employed. He and Linda McMillen Reynolds were married on June 10, 1989, and moved to LeClaire, Iowa. He continued in the flooring industry, working as a Commercial Sales Representative for many years at Carpetland USA in Davenport and then Griffin’s Floorcrafters in Moline, where he was employed until his death. Kevin had a talent for design that served him well when it came to creating in-house floor displays and advising both commercial and residential customers in their choice of materials and layout. His sharp eye and attention to detail were both a blessing and a curse as he detected even minor flaws everywhere he went. He had an incredible ability to assess functional and aesthetic qualities of nearly anything that he was engaged with – from landscaping to drafting floor plans to perfecting a Sunday brunch.

Kevin was an avid golfer and a devoted fan of the Miami Dolphins. As a child, he owned every piece of team paraphernalia available, from pajamas to ski caps, belt buckles to rain ponchos. Most recently, he could be seen in his one-of-a-kind, custom-made wheelchair in the Dolphins’ aqua and coral.

Kevin and Linda are proud parents of Melinda (Micah) Spooner-Wyman of Carlsbad, California, Jennifer Moss of Rock Island, Illinois, and Daniel Moss of Iowa City, Iowa, and grandparents of Finn, Frankie, Amir, and Armani. He is survived by his parents and sisters Kathi (Scott) Wiesbrock of Ottawa and Kristi (Kevin) Reagan of Naperville. He has numerous nieces and nephews who describe him as “someone they always admired and looked up to”. His wit was subtle and spot on, and he was considered by some of them as their “favorite funny guy growing up”.

Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dan and Edith Moss, and maternal grandparents Tom and Pat Flanagan, all of Ottawa.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared publicly when determined.
