The environmental cleanup at the old Ottawa Central School site is done. All that’s left is to do is the landscaping. Nicor Gas spokeswoman Jennifer Golz says none of what was done there is the beginning of the YMCA’s building project. That isn’t expected to happen until the fall.
The fence will remain at the former school site while grass gets a good hold. Nicor Gas and ComEd removed coal tar left over from a company that used coal to make gas at the site before it spawned both companies.
