Michael James Eltrevoog Sr., 74, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.
Michael was born June 22, 1951, in Ottawa, IL to the late Bjarne and Eileen (Murphy) Eltrevoog. Right out of high school, he went to work for Caterpillar in Aurora where he retried after 32 years. He was extremely involved with the Variety Riders Club. He was always willing to volunteer to man the grill or mow the grass and was at every outing they had. He regularly took care of all his “aunts and uncles” mowing his neighbor’s grass or shoveling their snow. But more than anything, his life revolved around his children and grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event or an opportunity to be with them.
He is survived by his sons, Michael James (Angela) Eltrevoog Jr., Mark (Traci) Eltrevoog, and Matthew Jerome (Rebecca) Eltrevoog; his grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, Jeffrey, Joseph, and Lana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bjarne and Eileen and his brother Marty Elrevoog.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be used to place a bench in Oakwood Memorial Park in his honor.
