The city of Marseilles is looking for lifeguards to help at the public pool.

Commissioner of Public Property Jim Buckingham says the city has only received one application for two lifeguards and an assistant general manager.

Buckingham said there is an incentive to being a lifeguard for the summer.

Buckingham says starting June 1st anyone 18 or older has a starting pay of 15 dollars an hour.

A member of the public Jackie Halon says a friend’s granddaughter said it might be about a test that’s hard to pass.

Buckingham says if they don’t get the pool open this summer then that could be the end of it ever opening again.

He says you have to be lifeguard certified and only have to be 15 before the class ends to qualify that you are trained.
