Date of Incident: September 25, 2025 Time of Incident: Approximately 8:04 PM Location: 4th Avenue & 6th Street, Mendota, Illinois
On September 25, 2025, at approximately 8:04 PM, Mendota Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 4th Avenue and 6th Street for a report of a person who had been shot.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect fired one round into a vehicle, striking the victim in the leg. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated and later released.
During the initial investigation, officers developed a suspect. Approximately one hour after the incident, that suspect was located and detained at a business in Peru, Illinois. Following an interview, the suspect was transported to the LaSalle County Jail pending formal charges.
This incident remains under investigation and is an isolated incident. Further details will be released as they become available.
