Golf carts and utility vehicles aren’t allowed on streets in LaSalle. Alderman James Bacidore wants to keep it that way. He doesn’t believe claims that people who drive them will just carefully go to local businesses and not cause trouble. Especially when the Lee County Sheriff and LaSalle Police Chief Mike Smudzinski say otherwise.
Smudzinski expects it to be hard to police UTV drivers who are careless or reckless.
Roger Frederick spoke to the council in favor of them last night.
Mayor Jeff Grove is asking aldermen to think things over for two weeks. There could be a vote then on an ordinance change.
